Andhra Pradesh: Govt. Plans to Clear Payments for Paddy Farmers in Same Season
K. Venkata Nageswara Rao, Minister of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, stated on Tuesday that the government was thinking about buying paddy and paying the farmers during the appropriate agricultural season.
Mr. Venkateswara Rao civil supplies and consumer affair minister stated that online paddy procurement was more efficient for monitoring and settling the payments to the farmers at a review meeting with the rice millers and government representatives of the Godavari region.
The rice millers have been instructed to post a request for gunnysacks online. The Rythu Bharosa Kendra (RBK) would give the go-ahead for the timely provision of gunnysacks for the acquisition of paddy, according to Mr. Venkateswara Rao.
Veerabhadra Reddy, head of the State Rice Millers' Association, pleaded for a strict and accurate reading of the moisture content of the paddy at the RBKs.
The A.P. Civil Supplies Corporation Vice-Chairman and Managing Director G. Veerapandyan and Civil Supplies Commissioner H. Arun Kumar both received complaints from the rice millers.
5.53 lakh tonnes of paddy will be purchased during the rabi season in the Kakinada district and 6.10 lakh tonnes in the Konaseema district.
