Amit Shah Asks NDDB To Strengthen Cooperative Dairying To Make India The "Dairy to the World"

The NDDB is a statutory body under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India, established in 1965 to promote, finance, and support the development of the dairy sector in the country with the help of its subsidiaries.

The Cooperation Minister of India, Shri Amit Shah, has praised the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) for their efforts in the Indian Dairy Sector and advised them to strengthen cooperative dairying to make India the "dairy to the world." He suggested that the NDDB should play a major role in establishing viable dairy cooperatives in uncovered Panchayats/villages that have the potential for dairying.

The Hon'ble Minister also emphasized the need for multi-commodity cooperatives, a common brand for exporting cooperative produce, promotion of organic produce, better capacity utilization of milk processing facilities through cooperation among cooperatives, self-reliance in manufacturing dairy machinery, and export of indigenous dairy equipment through IDMC Ltd, a subsidiary of NDDB.

The Minister highlighted the importance of subsidiary companies of NDDB playing a lead and stellar role in achieving these goals.

The Chairman of NDDB, Shri Meenesh Shah, welcomed the Hon'ble Union Minister and briefed him about India's dairy sector, NDDB's 'Farmers First' vision, scientific dairy husbandry practices adopted by farmers, and the efforts of NDDB's subsidiaries in strengthening dairy cooperatives to improve the livelihoods of millions of farmers.

The Chairman and Board of Directors of NDDB thanked the Hon'ble Minister for his guidance and assured him of full support towards the development of the dairy sector.

The Hon'ble Cooperation Minister also acknowledged NDDB's initiatives to strengthen dairying in neighbouring countries and African nations, stating that India needs to become "Dairy to the World" by exporting quality milk and milk products to further enhance farmers' income. This will help fulfil the Hon'ble Prime Minister's goal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.

In conclusion, the Cooperation Minister's advice to NDDB to strengthen cooperative dairying will help the Indian dairy sector thrive and become a major exporter of quality milk and milk products. The NDDB's initiatives to improve the livelihoods of millions of farmers in India and neighbouring countries are commendable and will help India achieve its goal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
