The Agro Bihar-2023 exhibition, co-organized with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will be open until Sunday (February 12). The exhibition featured 125 stalls in total, with approximately 500 agricultural machinery dealers from all districts of the state participating and displaying a diverse range of products.
On Thursday, Agriculture Minister Kumar Sarvjeet opened the 11th edition of Agro Bihar, a state-level agricultural mechanization exhibition, at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. The exhibition, which is being co-organized with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will run until Sunday.
Around 500 agricultural machinery dealers from all districts of the state are participating in the exhibition, which has a total of 125 stalls. More than ten states' worth of machinery manufacturers has also opened shop at the fair.
The exhibition displays and sells agricultural machinery, horticulture equipment, seeds, fertilizers, and processed agricultural products in addition to agricultural machinery. "Modern farming requires modern equipment. Farmers are receiving subsidized quality seeds and agricultural machinery from the government. As a result, the cost of production has decreased while increasing," Sarvjeet stated.
Over 4500 farmers from all over Bihar will attend the fair every day to learn about the most recent agricultural technology and land preservation. A mobile soil testing lab has been set up at the fairgrounds so that farmers can examine their soil.
"A total of 90 different types of agricultural machinery and implements have received grants under the Krishi Yantrikaran Rajya Yojana 2022-23," said Sarvjeet.
The Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), university agriculture scientists, and entrepreneurs are also present at the fair. Agri-college students and children from local schools will be invited to the expo to promote agriculture among youth.
Agriculture has been prioritized by the state government, and a road map has been developed to further boost this sector and related industries. The state government has prioritized farm mechanization as a critical policy initiative, which increases cropping intensity, reduces unnecessary costs, and improves agricultural production efficiency.
Due to its sizable market, plentiful labor force, and access to raw materials, Bihar is progressively becoming a commercial hub in Eastern India for agriculture and related industries.
