Agriculture Department Hosts 2-Day Beekeeping Transformation Seminar in Kupwara's Town Hall
Despite the ongoing cropping season, the Agriculture Director warmly greeted farmers at the Seminar. He stressed the need for clear guidance, urging local language explanations for beekeeping procedures.
The Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare in Kupwara hosted a seminar titled 'Transformation of Bee Keeping' at the Town Hall. The event welcomed Altaf Ahmad Khan, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kupwara, as the chief guest, and Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal, Director of Agriculture Kashmir, as the guest of honor.
ADDC Khan highlighted Kupwara's abundant natural resources like forests, offering substantial potential for agriculture and allied activities, especially beekeeping. He urged farmers to capitalize on training and government schemes, fostering income-generating units in Apiculture.
Despite the ongoing cropping season, the Director of Agriculture expressed gratitude to participating farmers. He emphasized clear communication by officers and resource persons in the local language, simplifying the complexities of beekeeping.

The seminar, spanning two days, aims to boost the Apiculture sector on a commercial scale in Kupwara. It involves educating unemployed youth to establish sustainable livelihoods. Success stories in Apiculture development were shared, inspiring beekeepers to thrive on a commercial level.
Resource persons shed light on the vast potential of beekeeping in the region and highlighted upon various government schemes to support new beekeepers. They stressed the significance of registration on platforms like the Madhukranti Portal and National Beekeeping and Honey Mission.

The seminar attendees expressed gratitude for the Agriculture Department's informative event. The release of a Souvenir on the Transformation of Beekeeping in District Kupwara marked a significant moment.
Chief Agriculture Officer Gurdeep Singh, District Agriculture Officer Mukhtar Ahmad Karnai, Head of KVK Kupwara Dr. Kaiser Mohiddin, along with other officials and beekeepers, actively participated in the enriching seminar.
