The state government introduced two ambitious initiatives in September last year, one in agriculture called Atmanirbhar Krishi Yojana and the other in horticulture called Atmanirbhar Bagwani Yojana. Beneficiaries receive credit from the State Bank of India, the Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank, and the Arunachal Pradesh Cooperative Apex Bank, which comprises a 45 per cent government subsidy, a 45 per cent bank loan, and a 10% beneficiary investment.
The Chief Minister congratulated the awardees and expressed the expectation that the state's farming industry, which has been suffering very slow growth, would be stimulated, as well as the rural economy, which is based on agriculture.
The state government is working on an ICT-enabled online scheme application system that would allow farmers to apply for these programmes from the comfort of their own homes. The Chief Minister urged all farmers to take advantage of the chance and apply for all of their programmes online in the new fiscal year. The state is also establishing a call centre to assist beneficiaries with any questions or concerns they may have about the programmes.
Organic fertiliser plants will be built by the state government at Ziro and Namsai. Farmers will no longer have to go through the hassle of hunting for the proper fertiliser at the right price elsewhere because the state government will soon deliver organic fertilisers to them from these plants.
