AGCO Corporation, a global manufacturer and distributor of agricultural machinery and precision agriculture technology, announced on 27th February, 2023 that it will donate $650,000 to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in direct support of its earthquake response in Türkiye. The donation will help with the distribution of life-saving supplies and services to children, adolescents, and families affected by the recent earthquakes.

"Our hearts go out to our colleagues and their loved ones in Türkiye, who continue to face many challenges in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes," said Eric Hansotia, AGCO chairman, president, and CEO. "We greatly appreciate the efforts of everyone involved in ensuring the safety of our colleagues and their families, our Massey Ferguson dealers, and our farmers who are working to help secure the food supply. Our contribution will provide much-needed and timely assistance to those affected."

AGCO's UNICEF donation will be used to provide relief supplies and services to those in need in Turkey. While the total number of children affected is unknown, an estimated 5.4 million children live in the earthquake-affected provinces. 2.5 million children require immediate assistance.

"The earthquakes have had a devastating impact on children and families, leaving hundreds of thousands in desperate need," says Bettina Junker, Executive Director of UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein. "We are doing everything in our power to ensure that all those affected by the disaster receive the assistance they require."

UNICEF is frequently among the first organizations on the ground following natural disasters. In Türkiye, UNICEF teams are collaborating with partners to distribute critical supplies such as blankets, clothing, safe drinking water, and sanitation supplies, as well as to continue to provide safe spaces for children to play and recover from the traumatic events they have witnessed.
