In May 2021, AGCO, Bosch BASF Smart Farming, and Fendt Rogator teamed up to trial the innovative Smart Spraying Solution, which aims to provide farmers with the ability to save on herbicides without compromising weed control. The system is equipped with sensors and automated sensitivity thresholds to enable targeted spraying during both day and night-time conditions.
Additionally, the system offers integrated digital tools that turn application data into actionable insights for improved efficiency and yield. The solution incorporates Bosch BASF Smart Farming's pest identification technology and will be available in the Americas and Europe through AGCO from 2024.
Farmers will have the opportunity to take advantage of personalized recommendations on farming practices and secure record-keeping within a single solution. The platform will deliver a seamless user experience by integrating AGCO's on-board and off-board controls with Bosch BASF Smart Farming's integrated digital platform, xarvio Digital Farming Solutions, which provides valuable insights from the data collected during the application process.
At present, the system can support crops such as corn, soy, cotton, canola, sunflower, and sugarbeet, and it will gradually expand to cover other crops like small grains.
Seth Crawford, the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Precision Ag & Digital at AGCO, stated that the sustainable solution developed by Bosch BASF Smart Farming has made remarkable progress in maintaining productivity, enhancing profitability, and delivering clean fields with maximum savings. This success is a testament to AGCO's focus on the needs of farmers. He also expressed his excitement about the upcoming collaboration with Bosch BASF Smart Farming to make this solution available to farmers and custom applicators worldwide.
Matt Leininger, representing Bosch BASF Smart Farming in North America, highlighted the uniqueness of their system. He stated that their system stands out due to the combination of three key elements: exceptional precision, advanced digital tools, and agronomic expertise. With 24/7 application capability, their system delivers exceptional performance, both on green-on-green and green-on-brown crops. This precision agronomics offering is a major breakthrough in supporting farmers to achieve higher yields while minimizing environmental impact.
