Advancing Agriculture: Arunachal Governor KT Parnaik Distributes Farm Machineries at Kisan Mela

The expo-cum-kisan mela witnessed active participation from farmers belonging to Tawang and West Kameng districts, who took advantage of the event to explore the latest advancements and opportunities in the agricultural sector.

Governor KT Parnaik visited an 'expo-cum-kisan mela,' organized by the agriculture department under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikash Yojana, to promote agricultural development and self-reliance among farmers in Bomdila. During the event, the Governor distributed agricultural equipment procured under the Atmanirbhar Krishi Yojana, including a tractor, a power tiller, and a rotary tiller, to selected farmers from West Kameng and Tawang districts.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Parnaik emphasized the importance of organic farming and adopting technology to enhance the variety and productivity of essential food crops. He encouraged the agrarian community of West Kameng district to focus on sustainable and eco-friendly practices, cautioning against the indiscriminate use of harmful chemicals.

Highlighting the region's agricultural potential, Governor Parnaik pointed out that fruits like kiwi, orange, and apple, which are grown in the district, have great marketing potential within and beyond the district's borders. To capitalize on these opportunities, he advised farmers to establish cooperative societies, which would ensure proper marketing and maximum benefits for the farmers.

Governor Parnaik also suggested that these cooperative societies could cater to the needs of security forces in the district, providing farmers with additional income opportunities at a good remuneration.
