Adani Group Installs Solar Lift Irrigation Systems to Benefit Farmers
ACC and the Adani Foundation are unwavering in their mission to uplift marginalized communities and empower farmers in various regions. The Bohardhi village project serves as a testament to their commitment to making a positive impact on rural communities.
In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at alleviating water scarcity and improving the lives of marginalized farmers, ACC, a cement and building materials company under the Adani Group, has successfully installed 20 HP solar lift irrigation systems across 55-60 acres of land in Bohardhi village, Bilaspur. The primary goal of this project is to provide a sustainable source of irrigation, ultimately leading to increased agricultural productivity and brighter prospects for the local farming community.
One of the beneficiaries of this innovative endeavor is Mr. Hira Prasad Sahu, a small-scale farmer responsible for a family of seven. For years, Hira faced significant challenges due to a lack of reliable income sources, primarily stemming from the region's water scarcity issue. However, the recent installation of the solar lift irrigation system has transformed his life, instilling hope for a more prosperous future.
The solar lift irrigation system utilizes solar energy to pump water from available sources such as wells, rivers, or reservoirs, ensuring a steady supply of water to agricultural fields. Operating for eight hours daily, this system provides year-round irrigation, significantly boosting crop growth and overall agricultural productivity in the region. Hira Prasad Sahu, benefitting from this transformative system, now cultivates a diverse range of crops, including paddy, wheat, peas, sunflowers, and various vegetables. Furthermore, multi-season farming is now possible, projected to yield additional income for him and his family.
