At the end of the 1990s Yara had analyzed that with the changes in the economic scenario, consumers wanted a higher quality fruit, therefore, the Indian farmers needed to relook towards the crop nutrition content, fertilizer content, etc. Initially, Yara was marketing its product Calcium Nitrate Range Yara Liva through leading companies like Nagarjuna, Tata Chemicals, etc. Later in 2011, Yara set up their operations “California Of India” having a huge area for horticulture purposes in the state of Maharashtra where they provided crop nutrition solutions.

Yara has also introduced Yara Mila which provides a premium quality range of compound NPK fertilizers for horticultural and plantation crops. Recently it released its first India sustainability report which discussed different techniques to enhance business processes and increase farm profits. Through its work, it has reached 11.8 Million farmers digitally and created an impact on more than 68,000 farmers through its partnership with over 125 FPO(Farm Producer Organizations).
It also focuses on the 5C Approach towards sustainability which is Commit, Channelize, Care, Concern, and Contribute. Therefore its main concern is the application of its product efficiently that will bring positive changes and attain sustainability. Through its new initiative it has tried to employ more female workers and encourage them to increase their standard of living, it has also tried to lower the operating cost, release the income, and provide premium quality products for the farmers.
