The centers’ primary goal is to make technology and information more easily accessible for precision farming.

Communication Techniques

Tata Krishi Vikas Kendras (TKVK) and the franchisee TKS make up the Tata Kisan Sansar (TKS) network of farmer centers. Both the TKS (franchisee) and the farmer can find resources at the TKVK. Each TKVK covers an area of approximately 60 km and 20 TKS, whereas each TKS covers an area of approximately 8 km and 60 settlements. Each TKVK is equipped with the necessary components to function as a complete resource hub and meet the needs of the TKS network. A training room, a crop clinic, a soil testing lab, a research and development farm, a storage godown, an exhibition hall, and a TKS retail outlet are all included in every Sansar's amenities.

The network centers consist of:

Advisory Services - Employees at each Sansar are available to provide advice on cultivation, crop-management strategies, and post-harvest management practices as well as advice on issues relating to agriculture. Agronomists from the TKS network run crop clinics where they advise farmers on what to grow, where and when to grow it, how much urea and fertilizers to use, and other pertinent information using computers to retrieve data from the Geographic Information System (GIS).

Availability of technology-

Precision farming, a ground-breaking initiative from the TKS, enables small farmers to maximize their agricultural production by utilizing cutting-edge modern technologies like satellite mapping and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Technicians analyze soil samples in the soil-testing laboratory to ascertain their composition and verify what the satellite maps have shown. The TKS network also runs research farms where scientists carry out agricultural development and research.

Library-

Farmers can access a library of publications and magazines to stay current on news and the most recent developments throughout the world. Additionally, the Sansar’s send subscriber periodic bulletins with info on farms by mail.

Training and exhibit halls-

Workshops and the showing of documentaries about agriculture take place in training and exhibit rooms. Members of the Tata Kisan Sahyog Parivar, a group supported by the TKS network to foster ties with farmers and their families, are invited to special events that might be educational, social, or simply entertaining.

Products

TKSs provide affordable seeds, insecticides, and fertilizers to farmers. They also rent out farm implements and equipment to farmers who cannot afford to purchase pricey modern machinery. Finance is one of the top concerns for Indian small farmers. This need is also met by the Sansars. Farmers have access to buyback facilities, loans, and insurance to protect their crops from catastrophic disasters.
