Tamil Nadu Farmer's Profitable Success with Fodder Cultivation

In his one-and-a-half-acre plot of land, Vasanthan has been diligently cultivating Go-3 and Go-4 types of fodder. The impact has been remarkable. Vasanthan proudly attests that his fodder cultivation venture yields a monthly profit ranging from Rs 15,000 to 20,000.

What sets Vasanthan's fodder apart is its popularity among the cows and goats raised on farms. Unlike generic fodder, Vasanthan's crop is consumed in its entirety, including the stalks. This unique feature eliminates the need for a cutter, making it a cost-effective and labor-efficient choice for farmers.

Vasanthan, a successful example of a farmer who has benefited from fodder cultivation. He has been farming for three years and has been engaged in fodder cultivation for the past eight months. He cultivates Go-3 and Go-4 types of fodder in his one-and-a-half acre land.

Vasanthan says that cultivation of fodder fetches him a monthly profit of Rs 15,000 to 20,000. He initially started with small quantities but increased cultivating it on one-and-a-half-acre land after the demand increased.

The economic feasibility of Vasanthan's venture is equally impressive. A bundle of his high-quality fodder grass is available for a reasonable Rs 30, making it an accessible option for local farmers. Those in need can directly visit Vasanthan's field to gather the crop.

Fodder cultivation can be consistently carried out for up to five years with minimal intervention. Vasanthan relies on natural manure to nurture his crop, and in case of need, urea is employed. The process requires minimal time and labor investment, with low pest infestation levels further simplifying the cultivation.
