Self-Made Billionaire PP Reddy, Farmer Who Turned Small Company Into Rs 26,700 Crore Business

Reddy remains the first to acknowledge that his company, Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL), began as a small operation with only two employees in 1989. Today, he holds the position of Chairman in MEIL, a company valued at Rs 26,700 crore.

Reddy, the fifth child of a farmer did not appear to have a destiny of becoming a billionaire. Nevertheless, he had great ambition and a singular focus when he started his own business. In 1991, his nephew PV Krishna Reddy, who is now the Managing Director of the business empire, joined him after completing his graduation. Together, they ventured into an industry dominated by giants and managed to expand their company to new horizons.

According to the Burgundy Private Hurun India 500, MEIL ranks among the top 10 most valued bootstrapped companies in India with a valuation of Rs 26,700 crore.

PP Reddy, who started the company as a small venture 34 years ago, now has a net worth of over Rs 17,220 crore ($2.1 billion), according to Forbes' real-time rich list.

Reddy, who came from a humble farming family, now possesses his golf course and a magnificent glass house that is considered one of Hyderabad's modern-day landmarks, resembling a glittering diamond.
