Protect Your Tractor from Rain and Moisture-Basic Maintenance Tips
Leaving a tractor, any farm machinery, or any vehicle out in the rain shortens its life span. That includes your new farming tractor or an old one running for years. During heavy rain or precipitation, it is very important to keep your tractor at an elevation to avoid flood damage from low-lying areas. Leaving your tractor or a piece of machinery on grass will prematurely rust out the bottom of your vehicle from the moisture and rising dew from the soil and grass. A tractor or a machine cannot be kept in a garage or barn openly, at least try to cover it because sun, rain, and snow are hard on metal parts.

Storing your tractor correctly
- Clear the soil and impurities before wiping away any moisture.
- Lubricate the body of the tractor and moving parts to repel the
water droplets and prevent corrosion.
- Thoroughly, lubricate the engine cylinder for safe storage.
- Add grease to the essential parts, such as the oil filler hole.
- Remove the air filter to prevent trapped moisture and clogging.
- Make sure the clutches are not depressed so belts remain loose.
- Tighten the tank cap to secure it from allowing any moisture.
- Store the tractor at an elevation, ideally in an indoor area.
- If your tractor is stored outdoors, then use a weatherproof tarp to wrap the tractor.
When in contact with a lot of water or parts are immersed
- Remove the dirt and wipe off any visible moisture.
- Then lubricate the necessary moving parts.
- If there is water in the fuel tank, drain it completely using a high-pressure pump.
- Replace the fuel filter, because it may have become clogged.
- Wipe and dry electrical components, like spark plugs.
- Disconnect the battery connections and let them dry completely.
- Grease the battery terminals and Inspect the electrical wirings.
- Completely replace the damaged parts and insulation tape.
- Loosen the bolts connected to the silencer and remove water droplets.
- Clean and dry the radiator, motors, and voltage regulators.
- Lastly, replace the battery fluid, coolant and engine oil.
