New Hay Mowers Are Available On The Market

Start your engines, hay producers: Case IH, Claas, and New Holland have all announced new mower lineups for 2022. Each of the three companies' lineups includes a variety of models to accommodate small or large operations.

CONDITIONERS FOR CASE IH DC5 SERIES DISC MOWERS

Case IH has introduced new size options for its center-pivot DC5 series disc mower conditioners, which are designed to provide more performance in a smaller package. Other mower modifications include improved crop flow, faster dry drown, and no-tool implement adjustments.

The Case IH DC105 disc mower conditioner is a new configuration with a modular cutterbar that spans 10 feet 1 inch. The conditioning system is available in either a rubber or a flail design. A smaller center pivot and overall size are intended to make road and small-field navigation easier.

The DC125 has a longer swath gate, with fins and wedges adjusted to improve cutting and windrowing over previous models, and a cut width of 11 feet 7 inches. In Case IH's mower lineup, the DC135 model replaces the DC133. The cutterbar width on this model is 13 feet 1 inch, and it has eight discs. Both of these models have the option of conditioning with rubber, steel rolls, or flail.

The new DC165 replaces the DC 163, and it has a larger cutterbar (16 feet 5 inches) and ten cutting discs. This model is available with either rubber or steel roll conditioning.

CLAAS DISCO 9300 TREND MOWER

Claas' new Disco 9300 mower has a large working width and is available in 29-foot inch or 29-foot 10-inch configurations. Despite its size, the Disco has a lower profile, requires 150 PTO HP power, and does not require a monitor to operate.

The cutterbar is built to be maintenance-free, with bolted, torsion-resistant construction. Each cutterbar is equipped with eight contra-rotating mower discs that are evenly spaced for an even cutting pattern. The one-piece base plate is made of 5 mm thick steel and, when combined with the skids, creates a dirt-removing tunnel effect. For converging and diverging mower discs, the intermediate pieces are shaped differently to allow for an effective cut as a counter blade and maximum overlap.

The protective curtains on the mower fold out wide for maintenance access to the cutterbar, and the construction is designed to keep the turning and attachment points from rusting. The mower bar has a quick knife change system, color-coded blades to make replacing them easier, and a replacement blade box divided into three compartments to keep them organized.

DISCBINE PLUS SERIES BY NEW HOLLAND

New Holland focused on improving cutting and swath controls for its center-pivot disc mower conditioners with the introduction of the new Discbine Plus series.

All models in this series have a newly redesigned cutterbar, which is similar to the one found on New Holland's Durabine Plus disc headers on Speedrower Plus windrowers.

The cutterbar has longer knives for faster tip speed and better cut quality. To leave less behind in down and tangled crops, the models have a 30% lower cutting height than previous models. Crop-to-knife engagement is aided by reshaped rock guards.

The conditioning system on the Discbine Plus is sized for each model to ensure uniform conditioning and quick dry-down across the entire series. Intermeshing rubber or steel rolls are two options for conditioning. There is also a flail tine conditioning system available.

The Discbine 310 Plus has a six-disc cutterbar with a 10 foot 1-inch cut width. This model can be equipped with a 540- or 1,000-rpm drive and can run on as little as 80 hp. The 312 Plus has a cut width of 11 feet 7 inches and a drive speed of 1,000 revolutions per minute. The 313 Plus has a wider cut than the 312 and measures 1 foot 4 inches wider. The 316 Plus has the series' widest cut at 16 feet 5 inches.
