Krishonnati Yojana- The Green Revolution

In 2005, the Indian government launched the Green Revolution-Krishonnati Yojana for farmers. The Green Revolution introduced farmers to a five-year umbrella initiative for the agriculture industry that is called the Krishonnati Yojana. In May 2018, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) endorsed the continuation of the Krishonnati Yojana's 12th five-year plan. This plan will remain in place from 2017–2018 to 2019–2020. The Green Revolution-Krishonnati Yojana, an umbrella program for the agricultural sector, is thoroughly discussed in this article.

Krishonnati Yojana is an Agriculture Umbrella Scheme.

This scheme combines 11 schemes and missions into a single scheme. Under this Krishonnati Yojana, the government intends to develop the agriculture and allied sectors holistically and scientifically to increase farmer income by improving production, productivity, and return on investment.

• The government has approved, is to double farmers' income by 2022.
• To build and strengthen agricultural product production infrastructure.
• To reduce crop production costs.
• To efficiently market agricultural and allied products.

Budgetary Provisions for Umbrella Schemes

In the 12th fiscal year, the government has allocated a central share of Rs. 33269.976 crore for the development of 11 schemes under the umbrella scheme.

Integrated Development of Agriculture (MIDH)

The government's central share allocation for MIDH is Rs. 7533.04 crores, and the MIDH objectives are as follows.

• To promote the overall growth of the horticulture sector.
• To increase horticultural production.
• To boost nutritional security
• Provide financial assistance to farm households.

National Food Security Mission (NFSM)

The National Mission on Oil Seeds and Oil Palm is part of the National Food Security Mission (NMOOP). NFSM's total central share is Rs.6893.38 crore. It aims to increase crop production in the following districts through appropriate area expansion and productivity enhancement.

• Rice.
• Wheat.
• Pulses.
• Rawer grains.
• Industrial crops.

The primary goals of NFSM are to improve farm-level economies and restore soil fertility and productivity at the individual farm level. The goal of NFSM and NMOOP is to increase the supply of vegetable oils while decreasing the import of edible oils.

National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA)

The overall central share for the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA), which falls under an umbrella program, is Rs. 3980.82 crores. The NMSA was established to promote sustainable agricultural techniques that are most suited to the particular agroecology, with a particular emphasis on integrated farming, adequate soil health management, organic farming, and resource conservation that works in concert.

Sub-mission on Agricultural Extension (SMAE)

The overall central share for the Submission on Agricultural Extension (SMAE) is Rs. 2961.26 crores. To strengthen the current extension mechanism used by Indian state governments and local organizations, SMAE was created. The main goals of the SMAE are listed below.

• Ensuring farmers' nutritional and food security.
• Farmers' socio-economic empowerment.
• Establish a formal planning and execution process for your initiative.
• To create efficient connections and collaboration between many stakeholders.
• Assisting HRD intervention
• To encourage the widespread and creative use of ICT technologies, electronic media, and interpersonal contact.

Sub-Mission on Seeds and Planting Material (SMSP) 

The goal of SMSP is to increase the production of certified and high-quality seeds, boost SRR, improve the quality of farm-saved seeds, fortify the seed-propagation chain, promote new technologies and methodologies in seed production, processing, and testing, and fortify and modernize infrastructure for seed production, storage, certification, and quality. For SMSP, a total central share of Rs. 920.6 crore has been allotted.

Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM).

The following objectives drove the launch of SMAM. For SMAM, the entire central share is Rs. 3250 crores.

• To bring agricultural mechanization within the means of all small and marginal farmers in India, where farm electricity is scarce.
• Help speed up the expansion of custom hiring centers.
• To get rid of the bad scale economies that come from tiny land holdings and expensive individual ownership.
• To introduce high-tech, expensive farm equipment hubs.
• To raise awareness among stakeholders by engaging in demonstration and building of capacity initiatives.
• To make sure that performance evaluations and certification are conducted at authorized testing facilities across India.

Sub-Mission on Plant Protection & Plant Quarantine 

The total central share owned by SMPPQ is Rs.1022.67 crore. The goal of SMPPQ is to reduce crops' quality and yield losses due to the following.

• Diseases.
• Pest insects.
• Nematodes.
• Weeds.
• Rodents.

Another goal of SMPPQ is to prevent the invasion and spread of alien species while also facilitating the export of Indian agricultural products to foreign markets. SMPQ refers to the promotion of sound agricultural practices, particularly concerning plant protection techniques.

Integrated Scheme on Agriculture Census, Economics, and Statistics (ISACES)

The total central share granted by the government for ISACES is Rs. 730.58 crores. Its goals include conducting an agriculture census, examining the costs associated with growing the major crops, and doing research on the nation's agro-economic issues.

 Integrated Scheme on Agricultural Cooperation (ISAC)

The entire central share of ISAC is Rs. 1902.636 billion. This is ISAC's stated mission.

• To provide funding to help cooperatives' financial situation.
• To correct regional inequities
• To hasten the programs for weaker sections and agricultural marketing, storage, processing, and computerization.
• To assist cotton farmers in obtaining a fair price for their products through value addition.
• To make sure the dispersed weavers have access to high-quality yarn at fair prices.

Integrated Scheme on Agricultural Marketing (ISAM)

The goal of this program is to support innovation, cutting-edge technology, and competitive alternatives in agriculture marketing infrastructure. In addition, SLAM aims to offer infrastructure for standardizing, grading, and certifying the quality of agricultural produce. ISAM has received a total central share allocation of Rs. 3863.93 crore.

National e-Government Plan 

The goals of the National e-Government Plan (NeGP-A) are listed below.

• To make the programs more farmer-centric and service-oriented
• To increase the extension services' effect and scope
• To increase farmers' access to resources and services throughout the agricultural cycle;
• To expand upon, improve, and incorporate the current ICT activities of the Center and the States
• To increase program efficiency and effectiveness by giving farmers access to timely, pertinent information that will help them produce more food.

For the National e-Government Plan, the government has allotted a total central share of Rs. 211.06 crore.
