Lemon farming tools

In India, Citrus cultivation is done on 923000 hectares with an annual production of 8608000 metric tons. India is known for cultivating superb quality citrus. In India Lemons generally grow in all types of soil but light soils are preferred as they provide a good drainage system. It grows within a temperature range from 20 - 25 degrees celsius. There are many varieties that can be grown and this is only possible with good-quality tools.

The following are different tools that can be used for lemon cultivation:-

  • Cultivators
  • Disc plows
  • Rotary Tiller
  • Moldboard plows

Cultivators

A cultivator is very important in agriculture for restoring soil fertility. It is also critical to achieving high-quality yield at a low cost. A Cultivator's goal is to loosen the soil by breaking up clods and destroying weeds to promote the growth of high-quality crops. Furthermore, this farming tool boosts farm productivity.

It is used in secondary tillage to improve the fertility and nutrition of the soil for crops. It is made up of frames with teeth-like structures that dig into the soil to extract nutrients from the deep layers of the soil profile.

Disc Plough

Hard, stony, and deeply rooted fields are tilled with agricultural ‘disc plow’ equipment. This primary tilling implement is appropriate for preparing the ground so that the upper soil crust can get the necessary nutrients.

It is used to prepare the ground for planting or spreading seeds. It turns the soil's upper crust over to help till the ground deeper, bringing new nutrients to the surface. Additionally, it digs out weeds and crop residue from the most recent harvest. Additionally, it aerates the soil to improve moisture retention. Therefore this will provide good conditions for soil to grow the lemons.

Rotary Tiller

A Rotary Tiller is also called a rotavator, rototiller, power tiller, etc which is usually used for the preparation of a seed bed. It mainly consists of curved tines attached to a rotary shaft which is used to dig the soil, remove unwanted weeds, provide aeration, and many more. They are self-propelled or drawn as an attachment for 2-wheelers or 4-wheelers.

A rotary tiller is a very economical and cost-effective implement that can complete its given task at its targeted time.

Mouldboard Plough

It is generally used for primary tillage. It performs efficiently in the field. They can easily cut the trash into the field and bury the debris. It is also used to turn over the manure and to be kept for decaying thus improving the soil quality of the field. Therefore enhancing lemon quality in the field. They also have an outstanding penetration performance, therefore, giving a good texture to the soil. This enhances the drainage system and provides efficient irrigation into the field.
