Innovative Farmer from Telangana Cultivates Success with Cow-Based Fertilizer, Earns Lakhs by Selling it
Expressing his commitment to promoting chemical-free agriculture in the village, Mohan is actively encouraging other farmers in the surrounding areas to adopt his natural and cost-effective fertilizer. His initiative not only contributes to sustainable farming practices but also showcases the potential for innovative solutions emerging from within the farming community.
Kasana Chandra Mohan, a visionary palm oil farmer hailing from Maddikonda village in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Telangana, has not only devised a revolutionary method of making fertilizer but is also turning it into a profitable venture. Mohan's journey into sustainable agriculture began when he encountered challenges with insects affecting his palm oil garden while using chemical fertilizers to boost yield. Seeking a solution, he consulted agricultural experts who recommended the use of cow-based liquid fertilizer for pest control. Inspired by this advice, Mohan established a Gowshala, or cow shed, on his farm and embarked on creating Jeevaamrutham.
The unique concoction involves a mix of cow urine and dung combined with jaggery and water. The mixture is left to ferment for 9-12 days, allowing farmer-friendly insects to flourish. Subsequently, Mohan sprinkles the liquid fertilizer over his crops, leading to promising results and improved protection against pests.

However, Mohan's innovation doesn't stop at his own farmland. Recognizing the potential of Jeevaamrutham to revolutionize agriculture practices, he began selling cow-based fertilizer to fellow farmers at an affordable rate of Rs 3-4 per liter. This not only benefits other farmers by providing them access to natural manure but has also turned into a lucrative income stream for Mohan, generating monthly earnings ranging between Rs 40,000 and Rs 50,000.
Chandra Mohan shared, "Applying Jeevaamrutham to my crops has resulted in a substantial increase in yield. The cow-based fertilizer enhances soil fertility, fostering the growth of beneficial insects below the surface and ultimately contributing to improved soil health."
