Punjab-based Sonalika Tractors is the only tractor company in India to have commercially launched an electric tractor in the market. Called Tiger Electric, Sonalika had introduced Sonalika Tractors back in December 2020 at an introductory price of ₹5.99 lakh. It has become a brand now Sonalika Tractors have created a very strong impact and stand out loud in Agriculture Automobile Industry.

When did Sonalika "Electric Tiger" get launched in India?

Sonalika Tractors commemorated the year 2020 on farmer’s day by debuting India’s first field-ready electric tractor, It was available in India starting from Rs. 5.99 Lakh. The ‘Tiger Electric’ launched during the electrification of the automobile industry was quite slow in the Indian market, especially in comparison to Europe and the US, Growth in the automobile direction was steadily growing. While we in India were still waiting for the launch of a few passenger EVs, Sonalika has gone ahead and unveiled India’s first electric tractor by the name of "Tiger Electric" a step towards the Indian machinery revolution in the agriculture sector.

Key features of Sonalika ‘Tiger Electric Tractors’?

The Sonalika Tiger Electric Tractors have been created on the same tried-and-tested platform as its regular tractors. The driveline consists of a 25.5 kW, natural cooling, compact battery with IP67 protection. and one of the most highlighted features is the battery it is completely made for easy to use purposes and for that it can be charged from a regular home socket in10 hours, and in just 4 hours by using a fast charger, which deducts the need to visit fuel pumps.

Tiger Electric Tractors is designed is to make it optimal for field operations. The Sonalika claims that the running cost of the electric tractor is 1/4th the cost of running an equivalent diesel tractor. The top speed is rated at 24.93 mph, and a full battery charge can last up to 8 hours while operating a two-tonne trolley.

Sales Impact of Sonalika,s ‘Tiger Electric’ in Financial Year 2022

As one of India’s preeminent tractor manufacturers, Sonalika Tractors has created a record in sales by clocking 1,05,250 tractor sales in just 9 months of the financial year 2022. This is an extension to the exports record where the company managed more than 25,000 tractor exports in the worldwide pandemic period, a segment in which it holds a 31.2% market share, more than twice of the next manufacturer.

Variants of ‘Tiger Electric’ by Sonalika

Sonalika has recently launched the Tiger DI 75 4WD and Tiger DI 65 4WD electric tractors. The two Tigers feature advanced Common Rail Diesel System engines that provide high power while ensuring efficiency correspond tractors of smaller engine capacity.

DI 75 4WD features a 4,712cc CRDs engine with 75hp and 290Nm of torque, while the Tiger DI 65 4WD produces 65hp and 258Nm of torque with the same engine and Gearing, managed by a 12F+12R shuttle tech multi-speed transmission, which provides a 40kmph best-in-class top speed for the Tiger DI 75 4WD. The eco mode gives a 10 percent improvement in fuel efficiency and can be managed by a single button.

The Designed was made in Europe, these tractors have been equipped with a slew of modern features like LED daytime running lights at the front and LED brake lights, 4-way adjustable and comfortable seat, fully digital instrument panel installed, engine immobilizer, 5G hydraulic valve rated at 2,200kgs, and smartphone-app with geo-fencing, geo-location, and real-time assistance. Tiger DI 75 4WD has been priced for Rs 11-11.2 Lakhs in the Indian automobile market.
