The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India, launched the Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) on April 1, 2013, as a restructured version of the Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojna (SGSY). The programme was renamed Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana on March 29, 2016.
- NRLM has set a goal of covering 7 million rural poor households across 600 districts, 6000 blocks, 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats, and 6 lakh villages in the country through self-managed Self Help Groups (SHGs) and federated institutions over an 8-10 year period.
- Furthermore, the poor would benefit from increased access to their rights, entitlements, and public services, risk diversification, and improved social indicators of empowerment. NRLM believes in leveraging the poor's inherent capabilities and supplementing them with capacities (information, knowledge, skills, tools, finance, and collectivization) to participate in the country's growing economy.
DAY-NRLM Mission
