Modern farmers use a variety of agri machines on their farms to increase farming output. We are here to clear your confusion between the harrow and cultivator among all the agricultural tools. The next intriguing truth is that most people mistakenly believe that a cultivator and a harrow are the same because they both work to prepare the land. But 'Cultivator and Harrow' differ in a few ways.

We are here to explain the distinctions between the cultivator and the harrow.

Cultivator

A cultivator is a machine or agricultural implement used to stir the soil around a crop after and before planting. It encourages crop development while eliminating weeds. Furthermore, this tool has a long history. Midway through the nineteenth century, farmers utilized horses to pull cultivators.  By 1870, one farmer could cultivate roughly 15 acres of land in a day with the aid of two horses. On the other hand, modern farmers work using cultivators that are attached on tractors. The machine can till the land faster than a horse-drawn cultivator.

Harrow

A harrow is an agricultural tool used to smooth and break up soil. It differs from the plough in that the plough performs deeper tillage in the ground. Furthermore, it is a secondary tilling implement used after ploughing. The harrow tool is used to break up clods or lumps of soil in order to achieve a smooth finish and fine tilth. When preparing the seedbed, a harrow can help you achieve a delicate soil structure.

Aside from that, the second function of this farming tool is to remove weeds and cover the sown seeds. In this respect, it differs from the cultivator. Cultivator and Harrow have one thing in common: they can both control weeds.

Difference between Cultivator and Harrow

The distinction between harrowing and cultivating is that a harrow is a heavy frame with several discs in a row that are dragged across the land. To remove weeds, it smooths or breaks up the soil. It also protects the seeds.

A cultivator, on the other hand, is any device that loses or stirs the ground. It can also be used to remove weeds and cover sown seeds.
