Crucial Update for Farmers: Rabi Crop Insurance Application Deadline Extended

The Agriculture Department has started accepting online applications for Rabi season crop insurance, pushing the deadline to December 31. Crop insurance in the district is facilitated by Agriculture Insurance Company Limited.
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana Extension
In a significant announcement, the Central Government notified farmers about the extension of Rabi season crop insurance until December 31, 2023. Farmers with loans who want to opt out of the scheme should fill out a form and submit it to their bank by December 24.
Application Process and Submission Deadline and Requirements
Farmers can obtain details about the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme at the nearest agriculture department office or through the official website https://www.pmfby.gov.in and CSC or post office.
To avail of additional benefits, farmers in Sikar and Churu districts of Rajasthan, who cultivate Rabi crops, must provide the necessary details, including mobile number, Aadhar card photocopy, bank passbook, and the latest Jamabandi (Document of land right), by December 29.
Important Guidelines for Participants
Borrower farmers uninterested in participating in the scheme must inform their bank branch in writing seven days before the insurance deadline, i.e., by December 24. Failure to do so may result in an automatic deduction of the premium from the farmer's account.

Procedure for Non-Loanee Farmers
Non-loanee farmers can get their crops insured by submitting an identity card, Aadhar card, crop sowing declaration form, copy of Khatauni(account book), and bank account details, including IFSC code, at the nearest public convenience center or bank branch. Premium payment can be made through the crop insurance company representative. These measures aim to ensure comprehensive coverage and timely compensation for damaged crops, reinforcing the importance of crop insurance for farmers across India.
