Check tyre pressure regularly
Operating the tyres at the correct pressure is possibly the most critical part of tractor tyre maintenance. The ride will be uncomfortable on hard surfaces with shocks transferred more harshly to the tractor itself, while in the field at too high a pressure. And low pressures can damage the tractor tire sidewall, causing cracking of the carcase and impacting handling when travelling at a high speed on the road. Therefore, pressure checks should be the main part of regular maintenance, particularly if the tractor has not worked for a while. If the tractor is parked for a considerable length of time, start it routinely and move it forwards or backwards to prevent flat spots.
Observe the pattern and level of tractor’s tyre wear
If the front tyres are wearing unevenly across their tread, this is likely to have been sustained during road travel. Swapping the tyres from one side to the another will help even out the wear. You can also consult your tractor’s operator’s manual and adjust the tracking as instructed.
