Miyazaki mango is the world's most expensive fruit. This delicious and juicy mango was originally grown in Miyazaki city in Japan. This fruit is very much sweet, and succulent and consists of 15% sugar. They are said to be rich in antioxidants, folic acid and contain beta-carotene.

High cost of Miyazaki

 

Miyazaki mangoes are considered one of the most priciest fruits in India. Due to their high demand and limited supply, they are very much expensive. The tree bears fruit once a year and possesses high-quality mango. Another reason for their demand is their harvest which lasts only for two months. High maintenance is therefore required to obtain quality Miyazaki mango. A Miyazaki mango is sold at generally Rs 2.70 lac/ kg in India.

The following is a step-by-step guideline to cultivate Miyazaki Mango:-

 

Variety selection- Choose a suitable variety of Miyazaki mango for cultivation. Ensure that the variety is well-suited to the climate and growing conditions.

 

Site selection- Select a location with well-drained soil and abundant sunlight. Miyazaki mangoes thrive in warm and tropical climates.

 

Soil preparation- Prepare the soil by removing weeds or debris. Choose soil with acidic to alkaline pH ranging from 5.5- 7.5. The soil must be treated with organic matter to enrich the fertility. Ensure that the soil has good drainage.

 

Planting- The accurate time for planting begins during the onset of the monsoon, from June or July. Plant Spacing measurement is 10 to 15 meters.

 

Watering- Provide regular and consistent watering to the newly planted seedling. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Increase the frequency of watering during dry spells or hot weather.

Fertilization- Apply a balanced fertilizer specifically formulated for mango trees. Regular application of fertilizer will promote healthy production and quality fruit.

 

Pest and disease control- Monitor the tree regularly for pests such as aphids, scales, or fruit flies. Use organic or chemical pesticides as necessary to control infestations. 

 

Harvesting- Monitor the maturity of the fruits by checking for color change and firmness. Miyazaki mangoes are to be harvested through clean and sharp pruning shears. Avoid damaging or bruising any portion of the tree or fruit.
