18-Year-Old Farmer's Son Wins National Award for Designing AI Agri-Robot to Help Farmers
Class 12 student Aryan Singh of Kota is honored with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar for his innovation, "AgRobot Sathi." This AI-powered rover, inspired by Chandrayaan 2 & 3, transforms agriculture.
Aryan Singh,18-year-old farmer son, was recently honored with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar for his excellent creation - the AgRobot. This AI-powered rover is set to transform agriculture by providing invaluable assistance to farmers through capabilities such as soil analysis, crop health assessment, and pest detection.
Inspired by Family, Driven by Purpose
Born and raised in a farming family, Aryan witnessed firsthand the hardships and manual labor farmers endure. The lack of readily available innovations and the financial burden of existing solutions fueled his desire to create something accessible and impactful. He utilized the time during the lockdown to delve into research and design the initial model of his AgRobot.
Witnessing the challenges faced by farmers, he felt compelled to find innovative solutions. The AgRobot, he believes, is his way of supporting the hardworking farmers who contribute to the nation's food production.

A Recognition on a National Stage
Aryan was among the distinguished awardees, including nine boys and ten girls from 18 states and union territories. His ingenuity has garnered him national recognition, culminating in the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar awarded by President Droupadi Murmu.
Acknowledged for his AI-powered rover, named 'AgRobot Sathi,' dedicated to assisting farmers, Singh distinguishes himself in the science and technology domain. Drawing inspiration from Chandrayaan 2 and 3, the rover employs AI sensors and cameras to provide farmers with valuable insights, facilitating decision-making and augmenting crop productivity.
The Basis of Ideas
Amid a global lockdown, Aryan's commitment to his vision intensified. Rather than spending time on recreational activities, he delved into researching the latest technologies worldwide. Born and raised amidst farmers, he understood the challenges they faced, including crop failures due to diseases and climate change.
After three years of dedicated research and development, Aryan's AgRobot prototype came to life in 2023. He established Mera Saathi Pvt Ltd., demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to bringing his creation to the farmers who need it most. The current cost of the rover stands at Rs 50,000, and there is an anticipated reduction of around 20% in its price through extensive production. Following a thorough examination of the project's success, the agriculture ministry intends to produce 1,000 units.
